Meet your guide in front of Dsign Cafe, located near the entrance of the Basilica Cistern on Sultanahmet Square. Your guide will be waiting with a white flag with the Istanbul Tourist Pass® and istanbul.com logos for easy recognition. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the tour starts.

  • Download the audio guide before your visit, as there is no Wi-Fi inside. The first download requires internet and browser cookies enabled, but afterward, it works offline.

  • All visitors must pass through security checks, and lines may be longer during busy hours.

  • Children under 5 enter for free; older children must show a valid passport at the entrance.

  • The cistern has a very humid atmosphere, and water may drip from the ceiling, so keep your devices safe.

  • Large bags and suitcases are not allowed inside.

  • Entering the water or touching the coins inside is not allowed.

  • The Basilica Cistern is located in Sultanahmet Square and can be reached by the T1 tram (Sultanahmet stop).
