The Hunkar Pavilion is a beautiful Ottoman building located next to the New Mosque in Istanbul. It was built in the 17th century for the Sultan and his family to rest and pray.
No, the Hunkar Pavilion is free to visit.
You can see beautiful tiles, pearl decorations, and other architectural details. The most important room is the Head Room, with its period furniture and Iznik tiles.
The pavilion was built by Safiye Sultan, the granddaughter of Suleiman the Magnificent and the wife of Sultan Murat III.
The pavilion is open all year, but it’s better to avoid busy tourist times for a quieter visit.
Nearby you can visit the Yeni Mosque (New Mosque) and the famous Spice Bazaar. You can also enjoy great views from the Galata Bridge.
